Preparing for Facelift Surgery at Aurora Clinic


6 months before surgery

  • Refrain from acne medications containing vitamin A (Isotretinoin) to prevent the effect on wound healing.

  • Refrain from Botox  injections and fillers on the face.

3 months before surgery

  • Take care of your physical health by exercising regularly and getting enough rest.

  • Undergo annual health check-up If you have a medical condition, you should consult a doctor to control your symptoms to be normal.

  • Refrain  from laser and thread lifts on the face.

4 weeks before surgery

  • Refrain from smoking before and after surgery for at least 4 weeks.

  • Refrain from piercing/tattooing or sunbathing.

  • Avoid surgery during menstruation. If you are unsure, you should consult your doctor to plan for a postponement of your period.

10 days before surgery

  • Refrain from medications that affect blood clotting, including:

    • Blood thinners such as aspirin, Coumadin, Ticlid, Plavix, or Aggrenox (consult your doctor for safety in stopping the drug)

    • Group analgesics NSAIDS such as Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Nuparin, Aleve, Relafen, Naprosyn, Diclofenac, Voltaren, Depro, Feldene, Clinoril, Lodin, Indosin, Orudis for example

    • Some sedatives and sleeping pills such as Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, Pristiq, etc.

  • Avoid all vitamins and supplements that may affect blood clotting such as Multivitamins, Fish oil, Omega3, Co-enzyme Q10, Evening Primrose Oil, Glucosamine, Arnica, Ginseng, Gingko, herbs, etc.
